My birthday. . . a little late

I just realized I never blogged about my birthday.  Kathryn and Rob went to Party City for Kathryn to pick me out decorations.  Well knowing just how much Mommy likes Toy Story she knew that was the best theme for me ; )
Kathryn set the table all by herself.
She instructed Daddy on where to hang the streamers and as you can tell she was very proud of the decor.
I asked Robert to make me a cake with Kathryn.  I thought it would end up interesting but I had no idea exactly how interesting it would be.  This cake certainly made me smile : )  Kathryn insisted that the cake should be red and the icing should be orange.  Rob used an ENTIRE container of red food coloring for the cake batter and it still ended up a very weird, bright orangey-pink color.  It was perfect!
Kathryn giving the cake a taste test.
I just can't get enough of this sweet girl.  She makes me so happy.

Bed full of babies!

When Kathryn and I headed to Memphis last week Robert headed to a convention in Anaheim, CA.  We had a few nights at home before Daddy got back and Kathryn slept in our bed.  One night it was storming so we let Sugar join us since he was a little upset.  Not sure if you can tell but I pulled her pillow away from the headboard a little and put Sugar in the spot that created.  You have no idea how much of a dream this is for me!  Kathryn never has been able to sleep with Sugar because she used to always be to excited by having him next to her that she couldn't sleep and now that she can sleep with him in the bed he is freaked out by her and doesn't want to be there : )

Kids say the funniest things!

Tonight Kathryn and I were talking on the phone with Ashley and Thomas.  Kathryn began singing "baby songs" for Thomas (FYI, Kathryn calls Thomas a baby and thinks that because he's a baby she has to take care of him).  Mid-way through one of her songs my phone died.  Kathryn gasped and then put her head in her hands and laid it down on the table.  I asked her if she was sad and she said "yes, I'm sad for Thomas".  I asked her why she was sad for Thomas and she said "because he can't hear me sing".  I almost laughed in her sweet little face!  I told her to go get Daddy's phone and we'd call Thomas back.  She goes in to the other room to Rob and says "Daddy, we lost Thomas and don't know where he is".  She eventually made it back with the phone and we called Thomas and she was able to finish singing to him.

On Monday Kathryn and I were playing "ice cream".  This involves her putting her play ice cream set (2 cones, 4 different flavored scoops of ice cream and 2 ice cream scoopers) on her Belle tea cart and pushing it over to me.  I am then supposed to place my order for two scoops of ice cream and pretend to eat it.  I'm not sure why she gives me options because she won't ever let me have what I ask for.  I will say "I'd like strawberry and vanilla please" and she says something like "no I want manilla you want chocolate".   There is also a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream that I am always forced to have because she "not like it".  Somehow from that she started singing a song and it ended up going like this: "chocolate chip icing make me so happy.  Chocolate chip icing make me so happy.  Honk Honk [her donkey sound], Ahem, Chee [what she says when getting her picture taken]".  I got this on video but unfortunately the video won't load on here so I can't share the cuteness with all of you.

So beautiful

On our way to Ash's house for dinner.  Kathryn knew that Thomas has the matching outfit to this dress and when I put it on her she said "Thomas needs to wear his so he matches me."  She gets so excited about them matching.  My dream. . . .

One day Ashley changed Thomas' clothes and Kathryn went up to him, inspected his outfit and said "my mommy made that for you."

Our trip to the farm

On Saturday morning we headed to Ma and Papa's farm.

"Mommy, it's hot.  I need to go inside before my eyes burn."
We had a picnic lunch and then all of us went on a ride around the farm in a Jeep.  Papa hosed off the tires afterwards and since the doors were off my shorts got a little sprayed.  Well luckily I had my mini protector in my lap ; )  When Papa got back in the Jeep Kathryn said "Papa, you got my mommy's pants wet."  Papa said that my pants were dirty so he was just helping me by cleaning them off.  Kathryn said "my mommy's pants are not dirty.  That's not nice.  Mommy, that's not nice. . . . . that's not nice."  Her seriousness throughout the conversation made it even funnier.

Kathryn wanted to "ride" the donkeys.  Bribed with tons of peppermints this one was willing to hold still for a few minutes for Kathryn to sit on his back.
Thomas was not as excited by the idea of getting on the donkey's back.

Weekend in Memphis

On Thursday we drove to Memphis and first stopped at Ashley's house to play with Thomas.  After playing hard Kathryn and Thomas snuggled in to watch Dumbo.  Then we attempted "quiet time" at Ash's house.  It went much better than expected Kathryn laid in bed next to me and squinted her eyes shut.

The "babies" don't look very happy in these but I guarantee you they were!  They were just exhausted!  Kathryn said "I hold Thomas.  He a baby."
After "quiet time" we went swimming.  Kathryn was disturbingly unafraid of the water and would not wear floaties.  She walked around the pool and didn't mind if she went under and had to keep being pulled up by me.  She would come up choking and go right back saying "I go under all by myself."  Guess it is time for swim lessons!

Love how in the picture below Kathryn is headed for the deep end and Thomas is chilling by the steps with every inflatable device he can get on!   This is completely opposite from how they normally act.

The next morning we went back to Ashley's to have lunch and visit with my dad.  The "babies" proceeded to completely wear themselves out again.

The never ending hug. . . .
Continued . . .
They were very excited to have on matching firetruck shirts.
We walked to the restaurant to eat lunch then got the "babies" ice cream and ate it in the nearby park.  Kathryn got tired after the ice cream and needed to rest while Thomas pulled her.  The sun was in her eyes, hence the shorts on her face.
Kathryn giving Thomas a check-up.  She pretends to be Doc McStuffins from the Disney show and sings "time for your check up, time for your check up.  It's ok if you giggle, it will only tickle a little. . ."
Kathryn loves her Uncle Will.  She walked up to him and said "Uncle Will I want to sit in your lap."

Me holding Rocky.  He's the world's most enormous German Shepard.

New clothes

I bought Kathryn and Thomas some matching clothes from Shrimp and Grits sale.  I wanted to share because I love them so much.  Kathryn loves for Thomas to match her.  Whenever I make her something she tells me Thomas needs one too.

I already had bought this dress for Kathryn so when I saw the matching boy's outfit on sale I had to have it.

This is for next year.  I thought I'd monogram Thomas a polo to match.
Kathryn and I both LOVE her new headband!  Please ignore the orange teeth, she'd just had a sucker
"Princess poses"
I got these for the "babies" to wear for portraits in the spring.  The dress ties at the top on the back. Kathryn looks like an angel in it and she loves it too!  She got upset with me yesterday because I wouldn't let her wear it for "quiet time" and then I wouldn't let her eat dinner in it.
We then had a fashion show.

Getting dressed for church

Daddy dressed Kathryn for church this morning. . . .
Then Mommy got her dressed. . . .
I love how she posed for the second picture.  I'd like to note that I have never taken my child to church in anything other than a smocked or lace dress and I certainly wasn't going to take her in her Auburn football dress!   I always smile when Daddy and Kathryn pick out an outfit together : )
