The Ten Commandments

In Sunday School Kathryn's class has been talking about the 10 Commandments.  Yesterday as I was reading the lesson I came to the commandment "Honor your Mother and your Father".  Our lesson had it as "Be nice to your mom and dad and other people that take care of you."  Kathryn, who is always super chatty during bible story time, said "you also need to be nice to Grandmas".  Then the 3 year old version for Thou Shall Not Kill was Be nice to everyone.  Kathryn said we need to be nice to bees and dragonflys.  I said "yes, we should also be nice to animals".  Kathryn said "if we aren't nice to them they will cry and go home".  Then for the commandment "Thou shall not covet" the version for the class was something along the line of 'We aren't supposed to want what others have.'  Kathryn said "yeah, we're supposed to hide our toys."  Well not exactly what I meant ; )  Seriously no one else was talking besides Kathryn!  There may a little confusion but I'm it makes me so happy that she shows so much interest in the bible stories.

I made Kathryn a Christmas shirt with a nativity scene appliqued on it.  She pointed to baby Jesus and said "God".

Party #2, Kathryn's friends

On Tuesday we had Kathryn's birthday party with her friends.  Two parties in 3 days is a little much for this mommy!  Kathryn told me next year she wants to have "one, two, and three parties".
So continuing with my fondant topper obsession.  I'm serious, these are the next "big thing" in parties ; )  I made sugar cookies, topper them with buttercream frosting then set the fondant on top.  Easy and adorable.
Wish I could take credit for having made these but I bought these on Etsy.  I'm in love with these cookies.  Actually, if you can't already tell, I'm pretty much obsessed with every aspect of this milk and cookies party.

How cute are the chocolate chip party hats??
I must say, these soaps have to be the cutest favors EVER!  I just adore them.  We had a couple of them left over and Kathryn asked why.  I explained that we just had some extra.  She replied with "that's weird".
Not really sure what Kathryn is doing here but thought it showed off her shirt and clip pretty well ; )  I even got this cookie applique on Etsy!  Check out this shop for the pink cookie monster clip.
Kathryn got a sticker book from one of her sweet little friends and insisted on playing with it during the party.  She spent a long time with it, even continuing playing with it when every other child was outside.
 The world's cutest profile.
Everyone had fun playing outside.  Even though there were multiple swing related injuries.
Kathryn recruited Miss Laura to push her on the swing.
 Thank you, Miss Laura.
Where to find:

I've had tons of people asking me about where I find all of my stuff on Etsy (besides the stuff listed here).  If you want to be my "friend" on Etsy send me an email and I'll give you my username.

Petting Zoo

Last Thursday we went to a birthday party at Oak Mountain Petting Zoo.  We had never been and Kathryn had a ball!  We decided we needed to go back soon and take Daddy with us.
She loved the horns.  She said they were like unicorns.
She went up to the goat in the picture below and said "Mommy, this one has ears and horns".
Sweet friends.  The sheep had gone back in their stall, pretty sure they were trying to get away from all the kids.
Love that the goat walked and front of the picture and paused for a bit.  Couldn't have posed one better!
Not sure why Kathryn is a couple of feet off to the side.
I knew my sweet girl would want on that big horse.  This picture shows Kathryn so accurately - in a pretty ruffly dress with a giant bow while doing something completely not girly.
Kathryn's friend 'Lo-Lo' looks so tiny on this big horse!

Visiting Daddy at work

Last Thursday after the birthday party we decided to drop in and surprise Rob at work.  We were waiting for him when we got back from lunch.  This is the cuteness he saw when he walked in.
Rob showed us how they hang the pages of the magazine on the wall as they complete them and prepare to publish the magazine.  Later that afternoon Kathryn said to me "Daddy at work.  He like go see his friends.  They happy to see him.  They hang pictures on the wall".

Back to School Party

This morning we had a big group of our friends over for a back to school party.  Here are some pics of the table and food.  As always, once the party starts I forget to take pics so I only have a couple of the kids.

I had several people asking about the toppers on the brownies.  They are fully edible fondant made by a lady on Etsy.  You can find them at Apple Blossom Cupcakes
I bought the party printables from this shop on, where else but Etsy!
I bought the plastic milk bottles, red striped straws & the red and white stripe nut cups (that the goldfish were in) from 3 Sweet Memories.
A few other random party items.  I got the chalkboard from Lucy Edgewood Designs and the party sign holder from Cute Kids Food box

The kids all had a great time.  They played hard on the swing set and in the bounce house, and of course, in the playroom.   Kathryn has the sweetest little friends. Notice that Miss Kathryn has on her apple appliqued shirt to match the occasion ; )
After all that playing my little princess was exhausted <3 br="br">

A few funny things. . . .

Here are a few things I never want to forget that Kathryn has said recently.

1.) A few weeks ago the 3 of us were getting ready to go out for dinner and Kathryn went up to Robert, while putting on sunglasses, and said "am I look gorgeous?'

2.) About 3 weeks ago Rob told Kathryn to come in the bedroom where I was and scare me.  Kathryn responded with "Daddy I not like that.  That make mommy not happy, that make me not happy, that make everybody not happy."

3.) I took a picture of Kathryn in her new leotard this past Thursday and Kathryn wanted to see the picture.  She said "I'm too cute".  I started hysterically laughing and she said "I'm too cute.  Mommy do the thing where you laugh real hard".

First day of preschool

My sweet girl started preschool this past Wednesday : (  She's been having a great time but I've missed her being gone.  Rob and I walked her in on Wednesday and she was a little anxious at first but after a couple of minutes she realized it was going to be fun and that she knew most of the kids in her class.

When I picked her up that afternoon she was happy and full of stories of her day.  Then she said "uh-oh.  I forgot.  I forgot to give Banks' mommy [her teacher] a hug".  Banks has been in Kathryn's class the past two years so I guess that is what she always heard her referred to as.  Friday afternoon Kathryn was still calling her Banks' Mommy vs Miss Ashley.

I dropped Kathryn off in carpool on Friday and was nervous that she might get upset (which would then make me upset for the next 4 hours) but she was such a big girl and did great!  I was so proud of her.  I gave her a hug and kiss and she jumper out of the car and headed in.  I know I have to let her grow up but I just want to keep her home with me!
Showing off her new school bag.  Upon seeing it she said "animals aren't supossed to be on a boat.  That silly."

Kathryn's card to Mal

Robert's sister's (Mal) birthday was a few days ago.  On Mal's birthday I told Kathryn we should send her a Happy Birthday email.  I told her to tell me what she wanted to tell Mal and I typed exactly as she said.  This is the email:

"Happy birthday. I love my family. I love my daddy. I love you. I love Mal. I like you. Happy birthday to you. Love, your friend. Happy birthday to you. I love you and Thomas. I love Mal and me. Happy Birthday. I love you. I love my friends. I love Dora and I love you.

Kathryn"

Our trip to Thomas' house

We had to head to Memphis on Monday for a friend of Robert's funeral.  Robert spend the next two days with all of his friends in Memphis and Kathryn and I spent our time at Thomas' house.

Look how excited they are to see each other!
Kathryn has been obsessed with Hello Kitty since we went to a Hello Kitty birthday party in March.  I decided she had to have a Hello Kitty appliqued dress and finished it tonight.  Kathryn was so excited to put it on.
Of course, we had to have a bow with Hello Kitty on it (no, I didn't make it!).
Princess pose.
 And new Hello Kitty shoes!!
We had to have a picture of the other shoe too!
As I type this Kathryn is reciting 'The Cat in the Hat'.  "Look at me, look at me, look at me now.  It's fun to have but you have to know how".   She has started saying "look at me, look at me" while riding her bike in the loop through the hallway, den, dining room and kitchen.
