What the Hail?

Last Wednesday Kathryn and I drove to Memphis. The main reason was for me to take classes to learn how to monogram and applique on my sewing machine but also to visit our family. I can now monogram, I may be able to applique but I'm not sure. I may need a follow-up course! Now nothing is safe - every towel, sweater, and bubble should watch out.

Thomas and Kathryn played together so well - they were so adorable together. Thomas has gotten a LOT rougher since we saw him 2 1/2 months ago! Below is a video of Thomas pushing Kathryn in the stroller (note their coordinating outfits!). Thomas was being so wild, he could not push the stroller fast enough!

Saturday my uncle called and said that large hail was moving through town. My mom has a one car garage so she pulled her car up as far as possible and squeezed a third of my car in and then covered the rest with a packing blanket. The hail was at least quarter sized. I've never seen hail that large. The 3 of us watched out the door and Kathryn giggled as the hail came down.

Kathryn eating out lunch with Mommy and Gammy. Her entree consisted of milk (of course!!), one cracker and french fries (her eating out staple). She loved it and was very good and let us enjoy our yummy bar-b-que.

This picture is fuzzy but it cracks me up. Kathryn KEPT getting the dust buster out at my mom's and handing it to me to vacuum. I would hand it to her and she would just look at my and then after a second hand it back to me.

Kathryn "feeding" her foot.

Kathryn LOVES to wear bibs. As you can see, she is wearing 3!

Playing peek-a-boo

She LOVES "drinking" out of empty diet coke bottles.

As you see, the toys and other distractions are piling up.

Yes, that is my credit card. She found it in the side of my wallet.

This pic shows Kathryn brushing her teeth for the first time. Usually she just wants me to put toothpaste on the brush and then lick it off.

Doctor's Appointment

Above is a picture of my angel after church. She loves looking at the neighbors flowers, fortunately Mrs. Alice doesn't mind if Kathryn picks them.

Today was Kathryn's 18 month check-up. I'd been dreading it because she always acts so pitiful and looks at me like she can't believe I'd do this to her. She did well for the most part, I'm still not over the way she looked at me while and after she got her shots.

After church yesterday snacking on her favorites, bar-be-que fritos and milk. Funny that she gets fritos added to her organic diet!

This dress (actually a long top) is my latest creation. It has pink/white bloomers that match the top's lining.

Life lesson learned through sewing: in slowing down you can actually get things produced faster because you get them right the first time. We all need to slow down but it is so hard. Babies can help us learn this, it is so refreshing to see them living in the moment and enjoying it without thinking of what's to come.

What a cutie baby!

Gotta laugh or you may cry!

My sister is now selling Kelly's Kids. If you are interested in purchasing any of their clothes she'd appreciate you going through her. Her email is: aepullim@aol.com and her phone is: (901) 356-3952.

She doesn't look like it but I promise she was very happy in all of these pictures!

Kathryn "helped" me add potting soil to the pot on the front porch this morning. She used her beach scoop and bucket. She was so messy somehow Sugar got soil on his back and side!

We went to Gymboree then went to meet my friend Whitney for lunch. Kathryn was really good. She tried to feed Whitney, played with the salt and pepper, used a knife to cut her cereal bar, and at one point slid under the table and sat there for a minute. What a silly baby!

We were on our morning walk on Wednesday and church bells started ringing. Kathryn started doing her dance where she puts her arms in the air and twists her hands around. She does it whenever she hears music!

Yesterday the guy that is replacing the rotten wood on our house (he actually is our neighbor across the alley) told us that our house needs to be repainted. We are already replacing the rotten wood and adding gutters to prevent any more rotten wood. We have been fortunate, in the three years we've lived her we haven't had any really big expenses. We do really love this house and we want to take care of it. Now if we can just find the right color. . . . If anyone has any cute color combo ideas let me know.

Kathryn has been so precious (even more so!) the last few days. Yesterday we had the best day together. I got my haircut and was nervous about taking her but she was perfect! Half the time she just wanted to be held and snuggled up on me. I think she was slightly nervous. When we got home we played in the sprinkler and her friends, Ruby and Riley, came over and joined us for a little while. Kathryn got the small bag that holds her diapers and tried to fill it up with water. After that she got the whole diaper bag and started carrying it to the sprinkler before I intercepted that disaster! When talking about our day it doesn't sound that fun but it was the best day we've had in a while with Kathryn and that's saying a lot!!

Spencer modeling his new muzzle and Kathryn taking advantage of the situation! He hates it and she loves it!

My new shoes. Aren't they cute??

Our fun weekend

Below Kathryn is assisting me in making brownies. She said "mmmm".

On Thursday we picked up Sugar and he was acting like his old self. Kathryn was very glad to see her puppy, and Rob and I were very unhappy to see the $400 bill. Every night Rob has had to pick the three scabs off of Sugar and pour peroxide on them.

Saturday we met one of our friends and her 2 year old daughter at the park. The girls had absolutely nothing to do with each other and ran different directions, which made it hard to visit. We still had fun and it was such a nice day to be out.

Saturday night we went to visit my cousin and his family. His kids, ages 9-13, were so cute playing with Kathryn. She had such a good time. We got home 30 minutes after her bedtime but due to feeding her chocolate and milk the ride went smoothly! Below is a picture of Kathryn with their very patient dog Lucky:

Kathryn has been extra clingy when I drop her off at school and the church nursery so on Sunday I wasn't too surprised when she got really upset (it really upsets us too). During a baptism, Rob went to check on her (just in case they didn't buzz us) and she was fine. At almost the end of the service we got buzzed, and when we got down there, Kathryn was happily walking around with vomit all over her dress and shoes. We had to strip her down and carry her out in a blanket. It felt weird carrying her out naked! She was perfectly fine before and after, so fortunately we don't think she's sick. This is a picture of her on the way home from church:

Poor Sugar

This week has very been interesting. Kathryn has had trouble falling asleep several nights in the past 5 days, which is very unlike her. Last night she did better so hopefully that is over!

We went to the zoo to play at the lilypads but Kathryn had no interest in playing in the water. She was fairly content just walking around and watching the other kids play.

Last Thursday, while Rob was in class, Spencer bit Sugar. I think they were both going for a piece of food Kathryn had thrown at them. We got him cleaned up and thought all was well since the bite was small and Sugar didn't seem bothered by it. Then Monday it was oozing puss and blood and the area around it had hardened so I decided I definitely had to take him to the vet. They had to do surgery on him and put a drain in to get all the fluid out and he has had to stay at the vet. I've been so upset about my poor, baby Shuggie. Spencer is about to find out who is boss in this house and it is not him!
This picture cracks me up because Kathryn loved holding Sugar's leash and walking him into the vet. She even held on to it as we waited but she looks miserable here.

This is the first time Kathryn has ever played in the sprinkler. She kept trying to fill her Easter egg.

Happy Easter

God has blessed us and our entire family so much. We have all we could ever ask for. I used to imagine my life with Robert and it is exactly as I dreamed, Robert is absolutely the most wonderful husband, he has such a sweet heart and is absolutely my best friend and has been for almost 11 years. Kathryn is the most beautiful, sweet, loving baby, she truly is perfect. We have wonderful, loving, supportive families and friends, a nice home that is perfect for us and dogs we love.

Today was such a nice day. This morning we all found our Easter baskets the Easter bunny had left us. We all got our favorite candies, the Easter bunny was especially generous with Kathryn's basket. We went to church early, Kathryn did not do well in the nursery but we were still able to stay the whole service. After lunch Kathryn hunted Easter eggs. She made Daddy hold her basket and she'd point at each egg and babble then go get it. After she collected them all she dumped them all out. She then collected them all and started trying to "hide" them. In the meantime she fell in a shrub and got dirt and mulch all over her but she didn't even seem to notice. We finally were able to get her inside and she slept for three hours!

Friends and Fun

Kathryn and I have had a wonderful weekend. Yesterday morning we went to Gymboree and played so hard. Kathryn was wild and showed off all her skills. She wants to be the center of attention so when the teacher plays with another baby Kathryn starts dancing or trying to stand on her head or whatever it takes to get the attention back on her.

When we got home from Gymboree Ruth and Libby were at our house. Libby is two months older than Kathryn and we are confident they are going to be best friends! They played so well together and really had so much fun. We went to the zoo and went into the contact yard for the first time. We were sort of concerned they were going to attack the goats and sheep but they only petted them a few times and then saw the toddler-sized rakes and that was all they wanted to do. In the picture she doesn't look happy because she was working so hard she had to concentrate!

The cutest thing that happened was Libby teaching Kathryn how to give kisses. Libby is very generous with her kisses. Now Kathryn will open mouth kiss your nose and once on my mouth. How precious!!
